Wealthy Maye Royer was born 09 Sep 1916 in Rushmore, Nobles County, Minnesota, to Claude Whitman Royer and Margaret Alice Riley Royer, the 3rd daughter and 4th child. She died 03 Jan 1953 in Lebanon, Oregon. She married Roger Ellis Brown 14 Feb 1946 in San Francisco, California, son of Kingan Brown and Jessie Gorham. He was born 29 Jan 1922 in Worthington, Union County, Iowa, and died 04 Aug 1984 in Barnstable County Hospital, Barnstable, Massachusetts.
Maye, taught herself to swim even when people told her she couldn't because she only had one leg. Her leg was amputated when she was a young woman because of an infection from an accident. She also taught herself to ride a motor scooter and did so all over town in Lebanon.
She took up a profession that she required her to stand all day...and did. She and her sister, Margie, owned a beauty shop together, called Maye's Beauty Salon. She was also the pretty one in the group. She had a great smile and seemed to always be smiling.
